Do-It-Yourself is extremely cost effective for wedding music, and it is a unique option contrasted with choosing a DJ or a band.
For my own wedding reception, we planned an intimate five-course dinner, featuring delectable food and wine pairings. The essence of our wedding was the refined yet approachable ambiance we created.
My husband, who has a huge passion and background with music, was not into the typical wedding music program: first dances, father-daughter and mother-son dances, or even dancing in general. Instead, he assembled a distinctive playlist that set the mood for our reception. We were able to enjoy our meal, have lively dinner conversations and enjoy his handpicked music (everything from John Coltrane to Neil Young). Of course, for me it was the most amazing night of my life. But as importantly to my happiness, our guests enjoyed a one-of-a-kind special wedding event. No one missed dancing or needed us to be the amusement on center stage. To this day, we still get comments on how distinctive our wedding was.
Although it may not suit everyone, DIY wedding music absolutely worked for us, and it can certainly help with reigning in the budget.
I love the songs my husband included because every song is still special to us. We can always relive the magic by putting on our wedding playlist.
